Credential Programs

Level 1 - Clinical Credential

The Clinical Credential program provides advanced level practitioners (must have a Masters or Doctoral Degree and at least 1 year of experience) with research-informed, best practice identification, assessment and treatment training from highly experienced and expert clinicians. Applicants will receive advanced training (didactic and experiential) specific to youth with sexual behavior problems and their families in a number of areas including:

  • Clinician Self-Care
  • Personal and Cultural Bias
  • Trauma-Informed Interventions and Milieus
  • Best Practice Risk Assessment and Treatment Planning
  • Safety Planning
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Intensive Community-Based Support Interventions
  • Invitation Models
  • Residential Treatment
  • The Good Life Model
  • Family Engagement
  • Developmental Variables
  • Special Clinical Populations
  • Treatment Fidelity
  • and others.

This training curriculum is recommended for master’s and doctoral level clinicians having worked at least one year with juveniles, and requires the completion of a supervised practicum experience at the clinician’s work site or an alternative site. Applicants are awarded the Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Clinician (CSAYC) credential upon successful completion of the curriculum training and the supervised practicum.

Ten hours of applicable continuing education is required every 2 years to maintain Level I credentials.

Total training hours: 5 ½ days (approx. 60 hours)

Cost: $1,150.00
Cost includes training fees, speaker presentations, training manuals and study guides, daily breakfast and lunch, and 6-months of practicum supervision. Participants are responsible for travel, lodging, and personal expenses.

Level 2 - Management/Program Credential

The Management/Program Professional level of training provides supervisors, directors, nurses, case managers, clinic/milieu managers, etc. (must have a Bachelors Degree and at least 1 year of experience) with research-informed, best practice identification, assessment and treatment training from highly experienced and expert clinicians. Level II training is designed for and geared toward the unique role of the non-clinician professional who has responsibilities in the oversight and administration of services or who provides direct services at the bachelor level.

This training curriculum is recommended for supervisors, nurses, directors, case managers, probation officers, etc. and requires the completion of a supervised practicum experience at the applicant’s work site or an alternative site. Applicants are awarded the Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Professional (CSAYP) credential upon successful completion of the curriculum training and the supervised practicum.

Ten hours of applicable continuing education is required every 2 years to maintain Level II credentials.

Total training hours: 3 days (approx. 24 hours)

Cost: $350.00
Cost includes training fees, speaker presentations, training manuals and study guides, daily breakfast and lunch, and 6-months of practicum supervision. Participants are responsible for travel, lodging, and personal expenses.

Level 3 - Direct Care Certificate of Training

This training program is recommended for direct care professionals providing treatment to youth with sexually reactive or sexually maladaptive behaviors. Direct care professionals are provided with important information regarding varying aspects of a child’s treatment while receiving residential or hospital-based services. Participants will gain information that will help to improve a child’s success in treatment and ensure their continued success after intensive services.

Practicum completion is not required for Level III certification.

Total training hours: 2 days (approx. 16 hours)

Cost: $150.00
Cost includes training fees, speaker presentations, training manuals and study guides, daily breakfast and lunch, and 6-months of practicum supervision. Participants are responsible for travel, lodging, and personal expenses.

Level 4 - Foster Parent Certificate of Training

This training program is recommended for foster parents of youth with sexually reactive or sexually maladaptive behaviors and provides information on safety for the child, family, and community. Foster Parents will learn how sexually maladaptive behaviors develop and how to be an active part of the child’s treatment team. Practical, effective and respectful plans to ensure safety are provided.

Practicum completion is not required for Level IV certification.

Total training hours: 2 days (approx. 16 hours)

Cost: $150.00
Cost includes training fees, speaker presentations, training manuals and study guides, daily breakfast and lunch, and 6-months of practicum supervision. Participants are responsible for travel, lodging, and personal expenses.
